India Gets Ready For The T20 World Cup

The Indian Premier League ended less than a week ago & here we are again ready to witness the Royal Rumble. After a long break of 5 years the T20 World Cup is back again already generating the kind of buzz it is known for. The tournament which was to take place in Australia in 2020 was postponed to 2021 and moved to India before it again got postponed and was finally moved to the UAE.

Now, enough said about the setbacks let’s take a look at the format in which the tournament will be played.

12 Teams will be divided into 2 groups where they play amongst each other and then the 2 Best Teams of each group move onto the next stage. The Winners of the Semi-Finals will then get to play in the Final the winner of which will be able to get their hands on the shining silverware on 14 November.

Team India Preview

India's Jersey For T20 World Cup

India kickstart their campaign against archrivals Pakistan on 24th October. All of the Indian players go into the tournament on the back of great IPL performances & hence rest assured India has a better chance of clinching the title than any other team. Speaking of titles India last won an ICC Trophy way back in 2013 under MS Dhoni. Since then, India has made it to the knockout stages every time, but each time their journey has ended in a heartbreak.

MS Dhoni retired in 2019 after India’s painful loss against New Zealand but now he’s back as the mentor of the Indian team. This is also the last that we will see of Virat Kohli as India’s T20 Captain and of Ravi Shastri as India’s Head Coach. If all pieces fall in place the Indian team and their fans would surely hope to give their Captain, Coach & Mentor a Title winning farewell.

SWOT ANALYSIS
Strengths:
  1. KL Rahul is back to being his 2018 self where he would just tear into the opposition without any respect whatsoever.

  2. Virat Kohli – The name is enough to create fear in the opposition ranks.

  3. Spinners – All Indian Spinners have had successful outings and would be longing to take the field come match day.

  4. Fast Bowlers – Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur & Mohammed Shami are at the peak of their bowling prowess and add to that the ever so consistent Bhuvneshwar Kumar who maybe having a slight lean patch but would definitely come back stronger.

Weakness:
  1. The form of Suryakumar Yadav maybe a cause of concern but if you follow cricket regularly you would know that its only a matter of time before the lion roars again.

  2. Hardik Pandya is an integral part of India’s white ball setup and him not bowling anymore hampers the balance of the team.

  3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has not picked many wickets off late and has proved to be expensive at the death. Surely Mohammed Shami should get the nod ahead of Bhuvi.

Opportunities:
  1. India faces formidable opponents in England & Australia in their warmup games which should hold them in good stead ahead of the curtain raiser.

  2. The form of India’s top order and the finishing abilities of Hardik Pandya & Rishabh Pant gives India a massive edge over any opponent.

Threats:
  1. India first face Pakistan who have had UAE as the venue for their international games in the past and hence would know the conditions perfectly well going into the big contest.

  2. India’s 2nd match is against New Zealand who have been a thorn in India’s flesh at ICC Tournaments.

  3. After the 2 big games India next face Afghanistan followed by 2 teams who will qualify after playing the group stage. So, if India were to qualify for the semis, they will have to prep themselves for a bigger challenge.

Predicted Starting XI: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Varun Chakravarthy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah.

This playing XI is capable of invoking fear into the minds of any opposition and we certainly hope so that it does and this is how the World Cup ends:

“Kohli Finishes Off in Style, A magnificent strike into the crowd. India lifts the World Cup after 14 years. The party starts in the dressing room and it’s an Indian Captain who’s been absolutely magnificent in the night of the Final"
ALL THE BEST TEAM INDIA!!!
